"Who shops at Falcon Northwest? Richard Garriott, Gabe Newell & Tim Sweeney." The legendary hardware reviewer Gordon Mah Ung name-drops some of our gaming legend clientele as he unboxes our latest Talon. It's decked out in custom intel Alder Lake artwork and loaded up. And Gordon gives you the benchmarks to show you whether it's time to move to Windows 11 for your next Falcon.
It's a secret most graphics card makers would rather you didn't know: the latest triple-fan and NVIDIA Founders design GPUs will intake air from the rear of your system - if they can. Talon has always had venting at the back to aid the GPU fan intakes, but the latest Talon takes it a step further: an optional 80mm cooling fan provides a boost of cool air to the rearmost graphics card intake.
Please note: some motherboard PCI slot arrangements, or additional add-in cards installed below the GPU (like soundcards or network cards) will preclude use of this fan. It is not critical for proper GPU temperatures - it's just a little boost.

Talon features two USB 3.0 Type A and one USB 3.1 Type C connector on top, in addition to the many USB ports on the motherboard at the rear of the case. The power button glows soft white when the system is on, and the red drive activity light alerts you when the storage is being accessed. A combination headset/microphone jack upfront makes connections easy.

Today's motherboards handle most storage duties with two (or more) M.2 slots supporting the fastest PCI Express NVMe drives. But for bigger, less expensive storage Talon can handle up to four 2.5" SATA SSDs, or two 3.5" traditional spinning hard drives & two 2.5" SSDs. Need to add your own legacy drives? We can even pre-cable the power and SATA connections for you, and each drive is on a separate installation plate for easy access.

There's "tool-less entry", and then there's "ridiculously easy". To open the side panels of the Talon, just pull the bottom edge and the magnetic hinged door will release. For those that like to get into their system and tinker, or if you just want to show off the beautiful cabling to friends, it doesn't get any easier than this.

Glass sided cases that display your beautiful interior need to stay clean, so we've incorporated magnetic fan filters over both the front radiator and the power supply intakes. The front filter can be slid out of the lower front panel for cleaning, or you can remove the front faceplate and just vacuum it in place.

Talon's side panels remove easily for cleaning, or even changing the sides to one with different panel graphics. Can't decide if you want solid or glass sides? Get both sets and change them whenever you feel like it.

The addressable RGB-LED fan pack for Talon is controllable with ASUS' Aura Sync software (on all ASUS brand motherboards). Feeling like green? Aura Sync will turn your Talon lights any shade of green you select. A literal rainbow of colors and even lighting effects are possible. Tired of all the lights and want to go to bed? Full dimming or turning the lighting off is only a click away.

Plastic is cheaper, but we're about stronger. LEDs and fans aside, the Talon case is almost completely metal: 4mm thick aluminum plating on a steel frame.

If you don't have the deskspace for your PC and need to put your system on the floor, dust and carpeting can become a problem. With many common PC cases, their feet will sink right into pile carpet and choke the airflow to any fans that intake air from the bottom. We thought about that and designed in a solution. Talon's rear foot is a large, wide piece of thick metal that keeps the power supply intake fan from being choked by deep pile carpet. Our added magnetic dust filter over the intake (removed here for clarity) will also protect your power supply from attacking dust bunnies.

There are a lot of PC cases out there with a dozen cheap fans, often pointed right at each other. Fan selection, size, placement, and acoustics are critical to proper cooling and the noise your system produces, so we don't guess - we test. We get a little obsessive about our testing. Here are some of the fans we tested for their thermal and acoustic performance in the Talon design. Not pictured: two more crates of fans that wouldn't fit on the photo table.
